The workshop

Slow work from Wales. A piece you live with.

In the workshop in South Wales, Tom turns birch planks into wooden books for the things you want to keep. Each piece is assembled by hand, coloured with wood stain, finished with clear lacquer and fitted with gold zinc-plated steel hinges.

Small, medium and large. The dimensions below are external and approximate because each piece is made by hand.

    Small

    18.5 × 29.5 × 9.5 cm

    Compact size for a hall table or desk. Good for keys and small everyday things.

  2. II

    Medium

    28 × 46 × 14 cm

    An everyday size for a desk or sideboard, with an open interior for stationery and keepsakes.

  3. III

    Large

    38 × 60 × 16.5 cm

    The largest book for a sitting room or creative space, with an open interior for keepsakes and craft supplies.

Materials

Birch. Rich stain. A clear protective finish.

Each wooden book is made from birch planks, joined with wood glue, finished with wood stain and clear lacquer, and fitted with gold zinc-plated steel hinges.

  • Birch, shaped by hand

    Each book is built from birch planks. The grain varies naturally, giving every piece its own pattern.

  • Wood stain and clear lacquer

    Wood stain gives the birch its rich colour while keeping the grain visible. Clear lacquer adds a protective finish.

  • Gold zinc-plated steel hinges

    Steel hinges with a gold zinc-plated finish connect the cover to the book and bring a warm metallic detail.

  • Carefully joined

    The birch parts are assembled and joined with wood glue to form the book and its open storage interior.
